- Douglas Fir: Clear vertical grain
- Hemlock: Clear vertical grain, cost effective
- Meranti: Quarter Sawn
- Sapele: Quarter Sawn
- Spanish Cedar: Occasional small knots. Needs tannin blocker
- Western Red Cedar: Light, weather-resistant
- African Mahogany: Quarter Sawn
- Accoya: Clear vertical grain, cost effective
